REDONDO BEACH

The City of Redondo Beach is a community on the coast between Hermosa Beach to the north and Hollywood Riviera to the south.  The city is well balanced with major industrial and manufacturing facilities that provide employment, commercial centers that provide needed support and resources for the population of over 63,000.

Housing is diverse in type and price range.  Single-family homes, high-rise and mid-rise condominiums are found on the oceanfront along The Esplanade, townhomes are prevalent on Catalina Avenue and on Broadway.  The area also offers some turn-of-the-century historic homes as well as new or near-new homes of large size, and numerous apartment complexes. Charming older homes are found on Catalina, Broadway and on the Avenues within walking distance of the beach.   The most affordable area of homes in the city are found in North Redondo, which is basically inland of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach and north of 190th Street

Parks and Recreation

Parks within the city vary from passive parks to fully equiped for activities., among which is Alta Vista Park that offers baseball diamonds, playground equipment, tennis and racquetball courts.  Aviation Park includes a gymnasium, track and auditorium.  Dominguez Park has a Little League field picnic facilities and off-leash dog park.  Perry Park on Grant Ave. has a Little League field, lighted basketball courts, teen center, senior center and Scout house.  Seaside Lagoon is a fee-based heated salt water pool with children's playground, sandy beach, vollyball court and snack bar.  Veterans' Park has a community center and senior center.  Wilderness Park offers overnight and daytime camping by reservation (310-318-0668).  A complete list of the parks follows:

The Shoreline, Marina, and Beach

King Harbor Marina is a focal point at the shoreline of Redondo Beach with anchorage for pleasure craft, harbor support facilities, boat rentals, sport fishing, hotels, and restaurants.  Seaside lagoon is a heated salt-water swimming pool that caters to families.  White sand beaches with County lifeguards and a bike path that connects northward to Marina del Rey are enjoyable passtimes.

Among the multitude of activities found in the area of King Harbor and the marina are sportfishing boats, boat rentals, sailing regatas, kayak and peddle boat rentals, bicycle rentals, diving and surfing.  There are several yacht clubs in the area for boating enthusiasts.
